Word of the President
UFSJ is exercising its full productive and creative potential. To meet expansion needs, it has been necessary to produce an unimaginable effort in several plans and institutional levels. UFSJ is stronger today, because it is incorporating new campuses outside headquarters (Alto Paraopeba, Midwest Dona Lindu and Sete Lagoas) and by its membership to ReUni, the governmental expansion program directed at higher education.
The growth of post-graduate studies in UFSJ is another great achievement. The expansion of our graduate programs can be attributed to the bold policy of qualification that the institution adopted in the past decade, and that required the personal efforts of the academic community, and the hiring of dedicated professors. Today we've reached the milestone of 360 doctors.
A good number of our undergraduate courses ranked the highest scores in Enade (National Examination of Student Performance). We are among the top 10 Brazilian institutions of higher education (among 1,500 institutions evaluated!). At the institutional assessment, the average score obtained by UFSJ was 4.3 out of a maximum of 5.
Infrastructure for new projects is being built, new laboratories are being equipped, existing laboratories, re-equipped. In all of the classrooms, multimedia projection kits are being installed.
The student computer labs are getting new computers. The construction of the university restaurant, historical claim of the student movement, was initiated on the CTAN campus. Our library collections have been significantly expanded. New theaters and new libraries are also being built. We increased the value and number of student scholarships. The Post-Graduate Incentive Program has been implemented.
Everything has been worth it! The efforts of the entire university community have provided important institutional results.
